Exotic animal adventure
Peacocks, pythons and piranha, Truro-area attraction has them all
By CATHY VON KINTZEL / Truro Bureau
NORTH RIVER - David Clarke's dream is to dispel Hollywood's scary myths about creatures some people may find in their nightmares.
The animal-loving junior high school teacher has transformed a stately old two-storey barn near Truro into an exotic animal adventure called Shedders and Feathers.
Mr. Clarke went on to say, as all exotic pets owners do...
"This has always been a dream of mine, to combine my teaching with my love of animals," Mr. Clarke said Monday over the squawking and wing flapping of his blue and gold macaw.
I just wish people would understand that to cultivate and teach a love and respect for wildlife it is not necessary to remove animals from their natural habitat. It's a mixed message, Mr. Clarke is teaching his students - One that says it is okay to deny animals their right to live naturally so long as you "care" about them.
