Ban on Canned Hunts

ONTARIO GOVERNMENT BANS HUNTING OF WILDLIFE IN CAPTIVITY
New Regulation Takes Effect April 2005

TORONTO — Ontario will ban the hunting of wildlife held in captivity on game farms, Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay announced today.

"Many Ontarians have strong views against hunting animals in captivity and believe it is not compatible with the values of our hunting heritage," said Ramsay. "We have listened to those concerns and are acting on them." read more...

This is good news. Hopefully, it provides a starting point for the Minister to also assess the state of Ontario zoos and other animal based facilities.
